How I practice astrology

I have been doing astrology readings for folks since 2023, largely through word of mouth in my community, but now I am opening up my books to the larger world.

I take a grounded, dialectical, collaborative approach to client work. My aim is to bring the planets down to earth in a way that is relatable and easy to digest.

I seek to create a space that is supportive, encouraging, and that meets clients where they’re at, whether that means holding heaviness or leaning into levity and humor.

When exploring charts, I encourage clients to look at things through a dialectical lens, underscoring that light and shadow exist alongside each other. Our challenges and strengths are linked together intimately and astrology speaks to this.

If you want to nerd out over astrological symbolism, I’m here for that!

If you want to touch on the more tender and difficult sides of life, I got you!

If you want to bitch and moan, I love that!

If you want to gain insight into what the future has in store, heck yeah!

Rather than thinking of the planets as causing us to do this or that, I like to think of astrology as a mirror that reflects back what’s happening on earth. Rather than be a substitute for other ways of making sense of things, astrology exists to compliment the various modalities whereby we come to understand ourselves and the world.

Astrologers to not pull astrological meaning out of the air whole cloth. Rather, we sit down with clients to figure out together how the planets are speaking to them.

In order for astrology to reflect back to us what’s happening on earth, we need gather context about your life to shine a light on who you are and what’s going on.

Doing a reading is a collaborative process where, through conversation, we come to discover what the planets are saying about your life.

Readings are their richest and most helpful when they are conducted with specific themes and questions in mind, and with a fair amount of knowledge about you and your circumstances.

When you book an astrology reading, you will be given a series of prompts to help focus the reading and provide context for where you are in life.

My astrological background

My background is in traditional astrology, with training in Hellenistic and Medieval Islamicate approaches, with a mix of modern techniques thrown in. I use whole-sign houses and traditional sign rulerships. While I do not treat Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto as ruling any signs, these planets are very important to me personally and to my practice.

How I read tarot

I got into tarot in 2016, devouring any tarot book I could get my hands on at the public library. For many people, tarot is a gateway into astrology and I was no exception. It was through tarot that I learned about the decans and the overlaps between tarot and astrology. It wasn’t long after I first discovered tarot that I pulled up my chart for the first time on Astro-Seek.

If you have been following me here, you know how much I am obsessed with the ways in which astrology shows up in tarot symbolism.

I specialize in looking at tarot through the lens of astrology. The cards have links to the signs, planets, and decans and their symbolism overlaps with astrology in myriad ways. By reading the cards astrologically, we can gain insights into people, timing, and archetypes that we couldn’t obtain otherwise.
